Villa Carlotta on Lake Como: Photography Project Opportunity

During our stay at Menaggio on lake Como in May, we made a visit to Tremezzo to the Villa Carlotta to see the villa itself and its magnificent gardens. The weather was perfect and the gardens were stunning. After a good lunch in the Bistrot Villa Carlotta, it was time to look inside the villa where I was delighted to find some wonderful marble sculptures to add to my “hands” collection – a project that has been going for over ten years now. These were really finely carved sculptures from the late 18th to early 19th century depicting various mythological persons, in classical poses.

One of the joys of a long term project like this is the surprise and excitement of stumbling across a target in an unexpected location, though an Italian villa is probably as good a prospect as any for some marble sculptures on display.

We travelled to Tremezzo by ferry from Menaggio.
