In Sidmouth we are fortunate to have an open air permanent exhibition space in the Sensory Garden alongside the River Sid (what3words ///poetic.misty.winner). It can show 20 images 1m wide by 0.75m high and an additional good sized information panel for more images and some text. The exhibition space is run by Sidmouth School of Art (SSA).
With a few colleagues I have been organising an exhibition there for Sidmouth Photographic Club after we were invited by SSA to put on a themed exhibition of our images, taken specifically for the event.
All the images are from a club project that ran from February through May to capture the Sid Valley as seen by the participants. The exhibition, titled “Seeing Sid” is now open and will run through to November. During the course of the summer SPC will be running several “meet the photographer” days at the exhibition. These will be promoted on the club website and FB feed.

Below are a selection of images and my own monochrome image, titled A Quiet Spot in the Lower Knapp, taken in the Lower Knapp Pond Nature Area between Manor Close and Station Road, a delightfully quiet haven and one of Sidmouth’s hidden gems. ///flying.club.summer
The two chairs and table under the tree are an enigma; I have never seen anyone using them; who placed them there? They look so inviting! The late afternoon winter sun shining through the tree and the long shadows of the branches give hope that Spring is around the corner. A monochromatic contre-jour approach accentuates the feeling of sunshine and the shape of the bare tree and its shadow.
