Gasholder Park – Kings Cross

You will find this amazing location just north of the King’s Cross Coal Drops Yard and Granary Square.

The wrought iron structures once held the gas holders belonging to St Pancras Gasworks, located closer to St Pancras Station. You can see them in the picture to the right, taken in 1947, on the other side of the canal from where they stand now.

They were finally decommissioned in 2000. Four of the structures were dis-assembled piece by piece and then restored and rebuilt in their current location.

On a sunny day the shadows and play of light on the structures make a great subject for photography.

“The whole point of taking pictures is so that you don’t have to explain things with words.”
