DLR – A Splash of Red

Treasure the red DLR trains before they are gone.

It’s the end of an era on the Docklands Light Railway. Or is it the dawning of a new one perhaps? They are getting new trains and they are not going to be red!

a splash of red – Why I love the red DLR trains

I am sure the users of the DLR are going to be delighted when the new trains are in service but for me it’s all about those lovely splashes of red you get when photographing the architecture at Canary Wharf; directly and in the reflections in the windows of the buildings. The red DLR trains can bring alive an otherwise dull reflection or urban landscape. Threading their way through the chasms between the office blocks and towering apartment buildings they can make a huge difference to the composition of the image.

Turquiose DLR Trains? Not the same as a splash of red!

And now the long awaited shiny new trains from Spain are going to be blue; or more acurately “DLR turquoise”. Time for another visit to Canary Wharf before there are no more red trains? I will have to fix a date in my diary.
