It was the day that Storm Benjamin was due to bring heavy rain and wind and I was meeting Graham at Paddington where we would make our final plans for the day over a coffee. Although there wasn’t much rain, we decided to do some indoor photography in the Elizabeth Line to start with, finishing that at Canary Wharf. We would have lunch at The Big Easy that sits on top of the station there, next to the roof garden.
We hopped out at a number of stations to explore the Elizabeth Line escalators and station foyers, as well as the Liverpool Street Station train shed. The roof of Liverpool Street Station is now encased in scaffolding somewhat limiting the photo ops, and will be for some time now while they renovate the Victorian roof structure and windows, which will let in more natural light when it’s all done.
By the time we had lunch, what rain there was had disappeared off somewhere else, and we just had a dull day with the odd ray of sunshine. So, we headed off round the Canary Wharf Estate which never disappoints me with all its architectural and urban photo ops. There is always something new to photograph.
There was time for a little photography after it got dark but we were feeling chilly in the cold northerly wind, so called it quits and headed back to our respective stations for the journey home.
It was a great day out and we never got wet!
