Visiting Sarlat in the Dordogne region of France for the Saturday market, I was surprised and delighted to find a photography exhibition being run by the local photography club – Photo Club Sarladais. The club’s 57th Salon d’Art Photographique included a section of prints by members of the club covering various themes such as urbex photography and their monthly set subject winners. The club exhibition was accompanied by another section which was a national exhibition promoted by the Fédération Photographique de France (FPF) entitled Ambassadors 2022 which was presumably touring the country to be shown alongside club exhibitions.
Photo Club Sarladais has just 30 members and they manage to stage an annual exhibition this being their 57th – impressive. What struck me was the variety of imagery, with no one genre being dominant. It was a pleasure looking at the images. You could also see that black and white photography was popular with club members at Sarlat. The whole exhibition was very nicely presented and a credit to the club.
Below are some posters from this and previous exhibitions. The annual exhibitions run for six weeks in the “high season”, and they are held in the ancien évêché de Sarlat right in the centre of Sarlat; a great opportunity to present a club’s portflio, to a worldwide audience.
