Sidmouth Folk Festival

It’s the time of year again when folk music comes to Sidmouth, together with a whole gamut of photographic opportunities. Over the years I have made a habit of trying to capture “folk week dogs” as a mini project. Some years are better than others! I try to take the pictures at dog level. To avoid any grovelling, I hold the camera low down and shoot blind pointing the camera in the general direction of the target. It’s very hit and miss. Everything happens very quickly and a fast wide angle lens is essential. I am shooting at 1/4000s and f2.5 or something like that. It’s nothing too serious.

“The whole point of taking pictures is so that you don’t have to explain things with words.”
